For ages, kitchen apparel has not spoken to the style and needs of chefs, but Tilit thankfully answered the call, creating stylish and functional workwear that works for chefs from the kitchen to the street. Since 2012, the Tilit team has been iterating to get the right ingredients in place to create their first-ever Women’s Chef Pant.
The Women’s Chef Pant combines style, comfort, and functionality and was born from the direct feedback of chefs during testing trials. So we asked a few of them a simple question: What do you love about the TILIT Women Chef Pants, and what have been the challenges with other work chef pants?
Anna Gordon
Chef and Founder of The Good Batch
“These pants are soft and flexible, but when I look at myself in the mirror, they appear incredibly structured and tailored. They strike a perfect balance between texture and fit. They’re very giving, I could do yoga in them, no problem! Traditional pants tend to be restrictive: too tight at the waist and too baggy in the legs. The proportions are often all wrong. These pants, on the other hand, are flattering and realistic for a real body. When I tried on the prototype, it was perfect.”
Camari Mick
Executive Pastry Chef, The Musket Room and Rafs
“What I really love about these pants is not just that they have multiple pockets, but that all the pockets are deep enough to fit essentials like a phone, notebook, or Sharpie. The fabric is nice and thick but not restrictive, which is great because I have thick thighs and a smaller waist. I also appreciate the two side buttons for closure at the top—they’re a great alternative to elastic bands, which tend to wear out quickly.
Overall, these pants are incredibly breathable. I can bend down without feeling restricted, and they don’t feel stiff like jeans.
One of the biggest challenges I face with other workwear brands is waistbands that are either too wide or pants that are so stiff they lack breathability. I often end up wearing trousers just to feel comfortable. These pants allow me to move seamlessly from the kitchen to the dining room without feeling out of place. They’re flexible, breathable, and just feel good.”
Lana Lagomarsini
Chef, Lana Cooks
“The main challenges with workwear pants are that they often don’t fit properly it's like they’re made for men or the waistbands don’t fit well. I’m slender, so I usually struggle to find something that works. Plus, the fabric is often too stiff or heavy when you really want something soft yet durable.
What I love about these pants is that they’re the opposite of all those issues. They fit me perfectly, and I can adjust them to feel snug without being restrictive. The fabric is super comfortable but also durable, and the pockets are well-designed. I love the asymmetrical thigh and hip pockets, they’re a nice touch!”
Jazmin Johnson
Chef and Educator
“The challenge with workwear pants is that they often don’t allow you to show off your shape, which can affect your confidence. What I love about these pants is the cinched waist, it gives you options to adjust and feel good about how you look.”
Silvia Barban
Chef, Larina Brooklyn and Briscola Trattoria
“The biggest challenge for me is sizing. Most workwear pants aren’t designed with women’s shapes in mind, so they don’t fit well. These pants are different, you can tell they were made specifically for women. They’re soft, comfortable, and flattering.”
Mavis Jay Sonders
Chef
“I loved how lightweight these pants felt. Most workwear pants tend to be heavy and padded, making them feel blocky or stiff. These felt almost athletic, they moved with me and felt great.
One of my biggest problems with other workwear pants is how quickly they wear down between the thighs from rubbing. These chef pants feel much more durable and comfortable for movement.”
Brittney “ Stikxz” Williams
Chef
“Women’s pants can be so restrictive—too tight with no give. As a chef, I’m constantly moving, and if I feel restricted in any way, it makes my job harder. These pants feel like I’m not even wearing anything!
The extra pockets are a game changer. I can store things all over without needing a bag, it’s like having cargo pants for the kitchen. I love that!”
Tashea “Huncho” Channell
“My biggest challenge with other workwear pants is finding options that accommodate plus sizes. I’m on the thicker side, so I appreciate that these pants gave me room in the thighs and butt. They’re designed with real bodies in mind, and I love that.”
We’re so proud of each of these chefs and look forward to all they will continue to accomplish in pants that truly give them the shine they deserve. A few features that truly set these apart are the reinforced knees, welted pockets, adjustable waist tabs, key ring loops, and six pockets, all built on durable yet lightweight cotton-poly fabric and made in the USA.
