Care Instructions

1. Washing Guidelines (By Garment Type)

Tops (Chef Coats & Shirts)

    • Spot-treat deep stains with a Tide pen or gentle stain remover before washing.
Wash in cold water to minimize shrinkage and color fading.
    • Use a mild, enzyme-based detergent to break down food oils without damaging the fabric.
    • Turn garments inside out before washing to protect logos, buttons, and surface details.
    • Tumble dry on low heat, or shake out after washing and hang dry to help minimize wrinkles.

Bottoms (Pants, Jumpsuits, Overalls)

    • Machine wash on cold with similar colors; separate darks and lights.
    • Tumble dry on low heat, or shake out after washing and hang dry to help minimize wrinkles.
    • Fasten zippers and buttons to prevent snags or abrasion.
    • Avoid overloading the washer to reduce friction and preserve fabric quality.

Aprons

    • Remove any leather components before machine washing.
    • Shake off debris and pre-treat stains with a spot treater.
    • For waxed aprons, wipe clean with mild soap and a soft sponge. Machine wash to remove odor.
    • Tie or secure apron straps (or place in a laundry bag) to prevent tangling.
    • Use a gentle cycle for the first wash to help preserve color.
    • Hang dry or tumble dry on low/cool air.

2. Temperature & Cycle Recommendations

  • Cold is preferred; hot water may cause shrinkage or set stains.
  • Use gentle/delicate cycles, especially for printed or embroidered garments.
  • Always follow the specific instructions on each garment’s care label.

3. Drying Instructions

  • Air dry or line dry when possible to maintain fit and reduce wear.
  • If using a dryer, select low heat only.
  • Remove items promptly to prevent wrinkles.

4. Stain Treatment Tips

  • Pre-treat stains (oil, tomato, coffee, etc.) as soon as possible with mild stain remover or gentle dish soap.
  • For tougher stains, allow garments to soak briefly before washing.
  • Avoid chlorine bleach on colored fabrics to prevent fading or fiber damage.

5. Fabric Protection & Handling

  • Turn garments inside out to protect prints, embroidery, and color depth.
  • Avoid harsh detergents or bleach, which can weaken fibers and fade fabrics.
  • Skip fabric softeners on workwear, they can leave residue and reduce breathability.

6. Ironing & Finishing

  • Use medium heat when ironing.
  • Do not iron directly over logos or embroidery, turn garments inside out or use a pressing cloth.
  • For heavier fabrics (like denim aprons or pants), use a steam setting for best results.

7. Storage & Longevity Tips

  • Store garments completely dry to prevent mildew or odors.
  • Hang tops and aprons to maintain shape; fold bottoms as needed.
  • Repair loose threads or stitching early to extend the garment’s lifespan.

8. Safety & Sanitation Notes

  • For garments exposed to heavy food residue, wash soon after use to prevent bacteria buildup.
  • Certain fabrics may allow sanitize-cycle settings; always check the care label first.

My favorite chef coat of all time!

A friend recommended Tilit to me and I took a chance buying my first coat. Now I have two of the same coat and would love to buy more! This chef’s coat is so lightweight and breathable. It’s perfect for summer shifts in a hot kitchen. They fit well and the design is perfect for the female frame.

Love the quality! The side pockets for a sharpie or thermometer are way too short to actual use, but other than that I really like the shirt.

The Women’s Chef Coat Built For Mobility And Heat

The Women’s Supply Chef Coat is a women’s fit chef coat built for mobility and heat: a moisture-wicking knit with natural weave stretch, a snap-front closure with hollow snaps, and the small details that matter in service, like the rear neck apron tab and an arm sleeve pocket for pens or tweezers. It lives in the Supply Chef Coats lineup, and it is part of our broader women’s chef coat assortment.

Option Best for Key difference Price
Supply Chef Coat for Women
Current product
Hot lines, fast movement, and a clean women’s silhouette in a short-sleeve coat Moisture-wicking knit with natural weave stretch, plus rear neck apron tab and sleeve pocket From $60.00
Long Sleeve Supply Chef Coat for Women Full-arm coverage without losing the Supply feel Long sleeves with the same lightweight, moisture-wicking knit and women’s fit From $72.00
Women’s Tailored Chef Coat A more structured, adjustable women’s silhouette with extra storage Performance stretch side panels, adjustable side tabs, and both hip and arm tool pockets From $92.00

Start with sleeve coverage. If you want maximum airflow at the elbows and a lighter feel on the line, the short-sleeve Women’s Supply is the straightforward pick. If you are working around heat, need more protection on your forearms, or just prefer a fully covered look, the Long Sleeve Supply keeps the same moisture-wicking knit performance and women’s fit, just with full-arm coverage.

Next, decide how much structure you want in your chef jacket. The Women’s Supply stays clean and simple with a snap-front closure (hollow snaps) and knit stretch that moves with you. If you want more control through the waist, the Women’s Tailored Chef Coat adds adjustable side tabs and performance stretch side panels, plus dedicated tool storage beyond an arm pocket by including a hip pocket.

Fabric preference can be the tie-breaker inside the Supply family. This coat is available in solid poly pique, with a seersucker option listed as cotton seersucker in a Palmer Dobby weave. Whichever you choose, you still get the Supply details built for an apron-heavy shift: the rear neck apron tab to keep the strap in place, and a sleeve pocket that keeps small tools accessible without digging through a bag mid-service.

Frequently Asked Questions About women’s chef coats

What fabric is the Women’s Supply Chef Coat made from?

The Women’s Supply Chef Coat is offered in solid poly pique, and there is also a seersucker option listed as cotton seersucker in a Palmer Dobby weave. Both are part of the Supply concept of a lightweight, moisture-wicking knit with natural weave stretch.

Does this women’s chef coat have an apron tab?

Yes. It includes a rear neck apron tab designed to hold your apron strap in place, which helps reduce rubbing at the neck during long services.

Is there a pocket for small tools like a pen or tweezers?

There is a convenient sleeve pocket on the arm, sized and placed for quick-access tools like pens or tweezers.

What kind of front closure does it use?

It uses a snap-front closure with hollow snaps, so you can get it on and off quickly and keep the front clean during service.

How should I wash and dry it to keep it looking sharp?

For chef coats and shirts, TILIT recommends spot-treating stains before washing, washing cold, and turning the coat inside out to protect surface details. Dry on low heat, or shake it out and hang dry to help minimize wrinkles.
